I have to say that in reality it’s software testing that has chosen me (and not the other way around).
While I was living in Germany, I interviewed for a job as a support engineer and ended up testing software. How so? Because I have a master degree in the area and they thought that I would be a better fit for a job in QA than in support. I know how to code but at that time I had not really coded in a long time. So I was definitely not a match for them as a developer neither (even though those competences were valuable for testing softwares). And I think they though it was easier to find someone doing support than someone doing testing (so when you have a candidate who can do both, you put this person in your QA team!).
I loved that job. Really. And when I had to call it quit because we were moving back to France, it was a big loss. In France I had this opportunity of joining my current employer. I was due to join a team working on data management. But it didn’t work and went finally work with a tremendous team because they needed someone with experiences in the testing field. I ended up doing all sort of things outside software testing. One thing getting to another, we had a big reorganisation. And I now work between dev and ops 🙂
I really do believe that software testing is my thing. And while I wait to go back to this field, I have decided to open this blog and broaden my competencies in this area.
